On May 25th 2012, a conference was held on the Armenian Genocide in “Casa de la Paz y los Derechos Humanos” (House of Peace and Human Rights) in the Aiete Palace in San Sebastian (Spain).
At the conference, organized by the Armenian National Committee of Spain, with the collaboration of the historian Nicolás de Miguel, the historic facts of the first genocide of the XX century were explained, as well as its current geopolitical consequences.
In order to vindicate the ongoing political situation of the Armenian Genocide it is absolutely necessary to open a debate in Spain, and for this reason the first step is to present the Armenian Cause to the Spanish people.
The CNA requests from the Spanish central goverment and the different parlamentary groups to work in conjunction for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide and to acknowledge it as a crime against humanity, as did the European Union in 1987, a crime which remains unpunished.
